Adam Hart

Harvard College Fellow in Visual and Environmental Studies, 2015-16

Adam Hart's research focuses on the formal means through which films solicit unique or non-classical modes of spectatorship, with a particular emphasis on the horror genre and on American avant-garde film and video. Approaching horror, and genre film in general, in a manner deeply influenced by both art historical criticism and writings on avant-garde film, his research analyzes the relationship between form/style and the address of the audience. Adam received his PhD from the University of Chicago in 2014 in Cinema and Media Studies. He is currently at work on a book manuscript on the modern horror film.
